Tahiti hosts the next Pétanque World Championships


After the World Cup Beachsoccer in September 2013, the Polynesian host the next Pétanque world championships, and Shot Accuracy in late November 2014 up To'ata.
Two other countries were vying to be the host of these championships but this weekend, the Executive Committee of the International Federation finally preferred Tahiti instead of Chad and Senegal.

Degage Joel, president of Tahitian Federation of Pétanque, looks back on the preparations to be launched soon:
48 nations are engaged in the race, 500 people are expected.
To'ata place will be designed to accommodate the competition.

The World Championship is an annual petanque boules competition organized by the International Federation of Pétanque and Provençal Game (FIPJP). The first edition took place in 1959, France dominates the discipline. It totals 26 world championships earned 52 podium finishes for the elderly, 42 world championships and earned 85 podium finishes all combined events (senior men, senior women, juniors and marksmanship). The France has 12 holdings as host countries and 60 podiums out of 135.
