Food trucks at Vaiete
Everyday - Tahiti
In the heart of the city of Papeete, near the harbor, every night Vaiete becomes a convivial place where you can go for dinner with family or friends. Indeed, every evening, dozens of food trucks take place in this famous location of the nightlife of Papeete.
Starting from 5:30pm you will have the possibility to go there. Have a look to the different menus of the food trucks. You will find any kind of cuisines: Tahitian, Chinese and European. You will have the opportunity to taste the famous raw fish with coconut milk or the “chao men special” (sautéed Chinese noodle with vegetables, meats and shrimps). Tahitian food trucks have the reputation to serve huge portion of dishes especially like the famous “steak frites” with its different sauces (parsley butter, Roquefort, pepper and barbecue). The dish comes with a nice piece of entrecote super tender (beef from New Zealand) and a lot of French fries.
Ask for the skewer veal heart with mustard and barbecue sauce, it is a typical dish of Tahitian food trucks.
If you like the fish grilled or raw, it is the perfect place to eat, swordfish, tuna and Mahi Mahi are divinely cooked by the chefs of the food trucks. You could thus eat a good sashimi, tuna tartar or seared tuna with a high quality of fishes.
You will also have the possibility to eat a good Breton crepe for your main course or dessert for the gourmands.
Briefly at the food trucks you could please everybody. If you want to eat fish and your kids want crepes, there is no problem. Indeed you can order your food at the food truck you are and order crepes or dishes in another food trucks, thus all the family is happy. In addition a Polynesian musical atmosphere is provided by a local band. They will enliven your evening with the sound of their voices and ukuleles.
We recommend you to go for diner at least one time during your stay in Tahiti. Even if the waiting time to be served could take a while some nights, the atmosphere is very friendly and local. You will undoubtedly spend a good time in an authentic place.
