Polynesian Bungalow

A lively atoll

Rangiroa, the third largest lagoon in the world, with nearly 1500 km², known as the Mecca of diving, with no less than 7 dive centers, 3 of which are available through our services: Topdive, Six Passengers, and Rangiroa Diving Center with the Te Moana inter-island Diving Pass or upon request for the Rebreather experience.

Depending on the season, you can find humphead wrasses, triggerfish, Manta rays, Leopard rays, grey reef sharks, hammerhead sharks, barracudas, turtles, dolphins, whales, and many more species...

No need to be jealous! This unique and abundant show is also available to snorkelers during drift outings with fins, mask and snorkel.

Rangiroa is also more than 400 wild motus, with 2 major sites not to be missed under any circumstances! Consider booking ahead... seats are limited!

To the East
The Blue Lagoon, a lagoon within a lagoon, a shark nursery with ideal conditions (shallow and inaccessible to predators), a place of rare beauty with intense shades of blue.

To the South
The Reef Island: discover a lunar landscape over several kilometers, with impressive coral formations called Fe'o, which contrast with the splendid white sand beaches all around.

On the main island
to the great delight of residents and visitors alike, a large number of snacks (small local eateries), restaurants (some with shuttle service) and roulottes (food trucks) have sprung up in the past few years.

You can also discover the famous Gauguin's Pearl Farm, with free shuttle and guided tours with demonstration, Monday through Friday, at 8:30 am, 10:30 am, and 2 pm.

La Cave
Recently opened, La Cave proposes you come and discover how the Wines of Tahiti are made, produced by a vineyard set up on a coral reef off the main motu, and which quality is becoming more established year after year. Tour and tasting on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at 5pm, with a fee of 18 euros per person, transfers not provided.

The Green Lagoon
Lastly, close to the marina of Avatoru (at barely 15min by boat) is the Green Lagoon. A lovely little private islet with white sand (rare on the main motu!), clean and well maintained, where you can safely swim in shallow water.

Plan for around 40€ per person for the whole day, with boat transfer from the dock & lunch included.

Accommodation on Rangiroa
The family pensions of Tapuheitini or Cécile, with a local, family atmosphere. The new bungalows of Va’a I Te Moana by Andrea and Cinthia. The refined charm of Le Relais de Joséphine along the pass, ideal for watching the dolphins at the end of the day The bed and breakfast Bounty, hosted by Alain & Muriel, seasoned divers
The Raira Lagon, a little family hotel with a vacation atmosphere, The Maitai Rangiroa 3* with a swimming pool, The splendid Kia Ora Resort & Spa 4* with a swimming pool, beach, Spa, and its “outbuilding”, Le Sauvage Private Island, for a stylish and authentic experience, And for travelers on a larger budget seeking experiences, there is the private island Motu Teta… we love it!

You have understood it, Rangiroa is emancipating itself… diver or not, there are a good many things to do on this little piece of coral... Have a great stay!
